If you have ever had a crown you know it is typical to have two appointments, one for preparing the tooth and taking an impression, and another appointment to cement the final crown. It takes two or three weeks for a lab to fabricate a porcelain or metal crown. During this time you wear a temporary crown. Temporary crowns can be troublesome, prone to loosening or breakage. Temporary crowns and three week waiting periods can be a thing of the past. We have the E4D system, which means you can get a porcelain crown in one day. An image is taken of your tooth with a laser scanner. A computer then builds a three dimensional model of an ideal crown, this data is sent to the milling component of the system and a crown is made in about an hour. This technology is truly 21st Century dentistry. See the listed link to learn more. Click here to learn more about the E4D ability to provide you with fast and flawless One Day Crowns.

Implant restorations

Humans have been trying to replace missing teeth for thousands of years- archaeologists believe the oldest set of dentures is 4500 years old. Artificial teeth were made of bone, ivory, or wood; think of the portraits of poor George Washington with his grim expression. Dentures and bridges have been a decent compromise but they are not like having a natural tooth. Finallly, with implants people may experience the comfort and chewing power of actual teeth. Dr. Ashby had a bridge for years- she thought it was fine but hard to keep clean, bits of food would get stuck under it. She had an implant placed a few years ago and is thrilled with it.
