Dr.’s Matthew Westerberg and Terri Ashby are known for the respect they give their patients. If you visit their office you will not be kept in the waiting room for more than ten minutes nad you will not be rushed through your appointment. The doctors take time to really listen to their patients. They love all aspects of dentistry, from taking a person out of pain to providing a major cosmetic makeover.
Both are graduates of University of Illinois in 1989. Advanced, continuing
dental study allows them to offer their patients a superior dental experience. They are truly committed to excellence in everything they do. They are thrilled to be in their current office which they dreamed about and designed over several years. It opened in August 2009. They are proud to invite new patients to this state of the art facility and they are grateful to their many loyal patients who put up with walking up the stairs to their old, tiny facility.
Dr. Matthew Westerberg
Dr. Matthew Westerberg was born into a family gifted in science. His, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncles, great uncles, and brother have all been successful mechanical engineers. Dr. Westerberg has the mind of an engineer but also a gift for healing. He was inspired to become a dentist by his mother’s father, who maintained a rural practice in Wisconsin for 40 years. Dr. Westerberg is a very caring man who feels a strong duty to deliver the best possible care to his patients. He is a general dentist who has undergone rigorous study in many of the specialty areas. His natural gift for understanding the mechanics of the way the mouth works is vital to delivering superior treatment, especially in the areas of orthodontics and implant restorations.
Dr. Terri Ashby
Dr. Terri Ashby is truly the heart of the practice. Even as a child she wanted to use her life in a way that would serve others. When quite young she
was afraid of dentists; some had been quite rough. At the age of twelve she received care from an extremely gentle dentist. On that day she decided she would devote herself to becoming a compassionate dentist. She loves children and has boundless patience with them. She takes delight in knowing that she has helped scores of patients lose their fear and go on to have beautiful smiles.
Juana – Dental Assistant
Juana, originally from San Diego, has been with the practice since 2007. She actually went through 16 months of braces with Dr. Westerberg so she can offer true empathy to our orthodontic patients. When patients see her beautiful smile they know the end result is worth the wait.
Heather –Dental Assistant / Office Coordinator
Heather came into the practice with a tremendous eagerness to learn. Dr. Ashby was amazed to find that she had been taking home books to study on her own time. She has now worked in just about every possible position in the office. There is no doubt she will continue to grow, even as the science of dentistry changes. Staff and patients enjoy her continual sunny disposition. It comes from the fact that she is doing what she enjoys – taking care of others in a meaningful way.
Carrie – Dental Assistant
Carrie has been with the practice longer than any other employee. She is a lifetime resident of San Antonio and went to East Central High School. Her biggest gift to the practice is her compassion for children. Young patients often leave the office talking about how much fun they had; it is usually because they had some time ‘playing’ with Carrie. Her other attributes are excellent attention to detail and her ability to multitask.
Claudia – Dental Assistant
Claudia joined our team this year. She has been a Dental Assistant for over 10 years! Originally from Maryland, she and her husband are settling right here in Texas. They are an active duty Air Force family. This will be their fifth and final location. The biggest gift Claudia brings to the practice is her gentle manner with patients.
Dedra – Dental Assistant / Hygiene Coordinator
Dedra whom we call ‘Dee’ is originally from Corpus Christi. At 24 years old, she is the “baby” of our practice. Dee has been a wonderful addition to our team due to the fact that she loves working to help others.
Nicole – Hygienist
Nicole is our newest addition to the team! She grew up in Castroville, Tx. Nicole graduated with honors in May 2009 from Coastal Bend College with a degree in Hygiene. She is especially sensitive to the nervous and the young seeing that she has a 4 yr old and a 9 month old!
